For many individuals, the decision to seek help with personal struggles through psychotherapy can be daunting. Knowing where to begin can feel overwhelming, especially given the magnitude of information available online that refers to various different approaches, theories, and techniques, as more or less beneficial for certain problems.  Although theoretical knowledge and psychotherapeutic approach is important, I believe that the success of any therapeutic work relies heavily on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between client and therapist. Ultimately, it's the connection, collaboration, trust, and mutual understanding between you and I that shapes the therapeutic process and drives meaningful change.

With this in mind, my therapeutic stance is always focussed on fostering a genuine, honest and authentic engagement with my clients; one that is founded upon trust, care, openness and active collaboration that allows for exploration of personal and sensitive issues within a confidential, non-judgemental space. â€‹

How can therapy help?

Psychotherapy is a process of  self-exploration and self-discovery, both for personal development and/or to resolve personal struggles that may involve emotional, behavioural or psychological difficulties. It can enable people to expand their perspective on themselves, others, and the world around them, offering an opportunity to relate to themselves and their problems in living differently. Enhancing insight, awareness, and understanding of oneself emotionally, relationally, and physically, opens up the possibility for greater clarity and change.

Therapy offers a safe and confidential environment in which to examine, explore and understand your own subjective lived experience, including relational and emotional patterns, as well as your relationship to the limitations and contradictions that constitute human existence. The process itself offers the possibility of reconciling past, present or future crises, helping individuals to take stock of their predicaments and discover more satisfying and meaningful ways of living more deliberately. ​

Choosing to understand oneself and shine a light on the shadows of our existence is an act of courage and necessitates acceptance, curiosity and compassion; we cannot effect change until we first acknowledge our reality. ​​This exploratory process is inevitably challenging at times, but it can also bring about a sense of relief and comfort in being able to take responsibility for the ways in which you have been living, and consequently how you choose to live moving forwards. â€‹
